We guarantee that every book you buy from us will be in good reading condition, and where there is a description of the book’s condition online, it will be true and accurate. The photos you see of the books featured on our website are photos we've taken unless otherwise noted.

 

How to Read a Book Description on Our Website

 

There are three main components to the typical description you'll find accompanying a book we offer for sale on our website:

1) Basic book info: The line that starts with "New York" and ends with "Good +" provides basic information about the book like place of publication, edition information, binding type, and overall book condition.

2) Book condition: The line that starts with "Text box" and ends with "Map endpapers" provides detailed information about the book's condition including notable/unique features of the book; for example, this Steinbeck book features illustrated map endpapers.

3) Dust jacket condition: The line that starts with "Good. Clean" and ends with age/sun exp." gives information about the book's dust jacket if one is available.

Payment

 

For online purchases we accept cheques issued by Hong Kong banks (e-cheques are preferred but paper cheques are okay too), bank transfers (we have accounts with Bank of China and HSBC), and all major credit cards (processed via Paypal). We will send you detailed payment instructions for your preferred payment method once we receive and confirm your order.

 

For in-person purchases we accept payments by all major credit cards, Unionpay, We Chat, and also via the Octopus mobile app by scanning our Octopus O! ePay QR code.

 

Refunds

 

All sales are FINAL unless the item is not as we've described, in which case we will issue you a full refund as long as you return the item promptly (no more than 2 weeks from date of purchase except in extenuating circumstances) and it is in the same condition that it was received.

 

For returns of online purchases that meet the above standard, we will refund the full purchase price plus return postage, but we ask that you please contact us before you return your order so we know to keep an eye out for your return shipment.

 

Book Availability

 

In rare cases the book you order online may be unavailable because of a delay in updating our inventory. In this situation we will cancel your order, refund your payment, and send you an email notification with our profound apologies.

 

Shipping

 

All domestic orders can be picked up in-person at our San Po Kong location for FREE.

 

All orders -- international and domestic -- are also eligible for shipping. For domestic orders we ship via Hong Kong Post or S.F. Express. International orders ship by Hong Kong Post. We take great care to pack books safely and securely so they arrive at your doorstep in the same condition as when they left our shop.

 

Effective February 2019 we no longer offer flat rates for international shipping. We will, however, continue to accept orders for delivery outside Hong Kong. Those wishing to place orders that require international shipping should select the appropriate shipping option at checkout. Once the order is placed (you will not be charged at this point), you will receive an email from us with a quotation for various shipping options. Simply respond with your desired shipping method and we will send you a PayPal invoice for payment of the entire order (books plus shipping).
